Two Cool Tools for ID Project Management

Click Up  https://app.clickup.com/

Click up is a powerful tool that can help an ID project team organize their work, assign and track tasks, and allow teams to collaborate on projects more effectively. This tool is designed on the premise that work is managed in a series or spaces which can be categorized as teams, departments, or types of work. These spaces are then broken down further into lists that group-specific tasks together. Tasks for each list can be assigned to individuals (or groups of individuals) within the project team. These tasks can be prioritized and have time frames and due dates associated with them. Team members can view their tasks as well as others’ tasks using a number of different methods (calendar view, lists, Gantt view) and update the status of their tasks as they are working on them. Any files associated with tasks can be uploaded and reviewed by the project manager as well as the project team. Team members can also make comments or ask questions about tasks that are assigned to them or that others may be working on. One of the biggest benefits of this tool is that it helps everyone to know where they are at in completing their tasks and the project as a whole. This enhances transparency and accountability for the team as they work through the project.  To learn more about how this tool can be used visit the following link to view their how-to videos https://clickup.com/videos

Monday www.monday.com

Monday provides an easy-to-use platform to help manage ID projects. The workspace is organized in groups where tasks are housed. Groups may be used for projects associated with different departments or higher-level aspects of a project. Tasks can then be assigned to individuals on the project team with assigned due dates. As an individual is working on or completes a task, they are able to update the status of the task. Automation can be set up within the platform so that when a particular task is completed in one group it is forwarded to another group who needs the finished product to begin working on one of their tasks.  Tasks also allow for an individual to attach files/deliverables that are pertinent to the task, ask questions, or share ideas with other team members.  The platform offers many templates that a team can use to get started with their project, or they can design their own workspace from scratch.

  1. I’ve never heard of ClickUp before, but then again I am new to Project Management. After looking into the app, I have to say I am quite impressed. It seems simple to use and offers great easy-to-follow tutorials. Additionally, the support articles from ClickUp experts are valuable to anyone new to ClickUp and/or project management.

Organizing projects, collaborating with team members, and tracking progress and goals seems pretty straightforward. Some of the key features a project manager may find useful with ClickUp include multi-view interface, machine learning for task estimates such as 'time to completion', and the simple way to create a task from comment embedded within an existing task (PR Newswire, 2017).

ClickUp offers flexibility in a way that enables teams to reach new heights in terms of collaboration. Furthermore, they continuously strive to improve their platform week after week. Updates to product features like, task tracking, goal setting, communication, project scorecard and more make project scheduling seem easy for any project manager. When using ClickUp, project managers can breathe a sigh of relief knowing they are using a tool that can help them achieve project success.

    1. Just like Gary, I too have never heard of ClickUp but it definitely looks like a useful resource. It seems pretty similar to Monday.com. Monday.com is more well known but if ClickUp offers better features, it may be worth further investigation. Did you see any major differences between the two platforms? Does ClickUp provide any major advantages over Monday?

  2. I personally think that Monday.com is a great tool for project management and I believe that it is one of the more popular tools today. However, I was unfamiliar with Click Up and decided to spend some time within the app. I also watched a demo to see how it works and my impression is that this project management tool has a wide variety of capabilities which seemed overwhelming at first. But all of the content that is included seems to be necessary and useful in some aspect. There were a large variety of functions and navigational tools which makes it non user-friendly for a first time user.
One of my favorite functions within Click up is the ability to include outside resources or individuals within selected portions of the project giving them limited access. This is useful for including input or assistance virtually without giving access to privileged information to outside sources.
